২০০০ সালের ৩ সেপ্টেম্বর উত্তর-পূর্ব লিটল ম্যাগাজিন পাঠ ও গবেষণা কেন্দ্রটি পথ চলা শুরু করেছিল অসমের গুয়াহাটি শহরের প্রাণকেন্দ্রে অবস্থিত প্রাগজ্যোতিষ মহাবিদ্যালয়ের বাংলা বিভাগে। তত্ত্বাবধায়ক হিসাবে ছিলেন বাংলা বিভাগের শিক্ষক ড০ জ্যোতির্ময় সেনগুপ্ত। কলিকাতা লিটল ম্যাগাজিন লাইব্রেরি ও গবেষণা কেন্দ্রের প্রতিষ্ঠাপক স্বর্গীয় সন্দীপ দত্ত এসেছিলেন এই কেন্দ্রটির শুভ উদ্বোধন করতে। তখন আমাদের সংগ্রহে ছিল অসম ও ত্রিপুরার প্রায় সাড়ে ছ’শ বাংলা লিটল ম্যাগাজিন। আমাদের নিজস্ব সংগ্রহে সংযোজিত হয়েছিল তিন তরুণ তুর্কি অভিজিত, প্রসূন ও সৌমেনের পাঁচশোর কিছু বেশি অসমের বাংলা লিটল ম্যাগাজিন। এরপর বিগত কুড়ি বছর ধরে জ্যোতির্ময় সেনগুপ্তর প্রচেষ্টায় সংখ্যাটা গিয়ে ঠেকেছে প্রায় তিন হাজারে। অসম তথা উত্তর-পূর্বের বাংলা, অসমিয়া এবং কয়েকটি হিন্দি লিটল ম্যাগাজিনের বেশ কিছু সংখ্যা সংগৃহীত হয়েছে উত্তর-পূর্ব লিটল ম্যাগাজিন পাঠ ও গবেষণা কেন্দ্রে। মূলত উত্তর-পূর্বের বাংলা লিটল ম্যাগাজিনে প্রকাশিত গল্প, কবিতা ইত্যাদি নিয়ে গবেষণা করা বা গবেষণাধর্মী প্রবন্ধ লেখার জন্য পশ্চিমবঙ্গ, ত্রিপুরা ও অসমের বেশ কয়েকজন গবেষক আমাদের এই সংগ্রহালয়ে এসেছেন। এঁদের মতো ভবিষ্যৎ পাঠক-গবেষকের সুবিধার কথা মাথায় রেখে এবার আমাদের সংগ্রহকে ওএব-দুনিয়ায় ছড়িয়ে দিতে আগ্রহী হয়েছি। সেজন্য আমাদের সংগ্রহে উপলব্ধ বিভিন্ন লিটল ম্যাগাজিনের সংখ্যা থেকে নির্বাচিত কিছু লেখা nelittlemagazine নামাঙ্কিত ওএব-সাইটটিতে রাখা হয়েছে। আমাদের উদ্দেশ্য উত্তর-পূর্বের সাহিত্যকে বিশ্বের পাঠকের কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়া। বাংলা ভাষায় রচিত উত্তর-পূর্বের বিভিন্ন মৌলিক লেখার পাশাপাশি অনুবাদকর্মগুলোও এখানে থাকছে। উত্তর-পূর্বের বিভিন্ন লিটল ম্যাগাজিনে প্রকাশিত লেখাগুলোর পি.ডি.এফ কপি আমাদের nelittlemagazine নামাঙ্কিত ওএবসাইটে রাখার জন্য এই পত্রিকাগুলোর সম্পাদকেরা মৌখিক বা লিখিত সম্মতি জানিয়ে আমাদের কৃতজ্ঞতাভাজন হয়েছেন। ওএবসাইটটিতে স্থানপ্রাপ্ত বিভিন্ন ম্যাগাজিনের মলাট ও লেখার জন্য আমরা সমস্ত লিটল ম্যাগাজিনের সম্পাদক ও লেখকদের কাছে ঋণ স্বীকার করছি।

On September 3, 2000, the North East Little Magazine Study and Research Center was started in the Bengali Department of Pragjyotish College, Guwahati, Assam. Dr. Jyotirmoy Sengupta, teacher of Bengali Department, was the supervisor. Late Sandeep Dutta, founder of Calcutta Little Magazine Library and Research Center came to auspiciously inaugurate the center. At that time the North East Little Magazine Study and Research Center had about 650 Bengali little magazines from Assam and Tripura in collection. More than five hundred Assamese, Bengali Little Magazines donated by three young Turks Abhijit, Prasun and Soumen were added to our own collection. After that, for the past twenty years, the number has been raised to about three thousand due to the efforts of Jyotirmoy Sengupta. Several issues of Bengali, Assamese and a few Hindi little magazines of Assam and North-East are collected at the Centre. A number of researchers from West Bengal, Tripura and Assam have come to our library to collect information and materials for their research or writing research articles on the stories, poems etc. mainly published in Bengali Little Magazines of North East. Keeping in mind the convenience of future readers-researchers like them, we are now interested in spreading our collection to the web world. That’s why a selection of articles from the various Little Magazine issues available in our collection have been placed on the web site named
